DECANTER PRESENTS... Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG

Elevate your choice: Join us on Wednesday 23 July for a tasting that will reveal the full breadth of Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG.

Decanter will host the Consorzio Vini Asolo Montello, the producers’ association that protects and promotes the wines of Asolo Prosecco DOCG. The tasting will feature wines from eight producers, in a diverse range of styles, including single-vintage, bottle-fermented (Sui Lieviti) and Brut Nature.

The Asolo Prosecco Superiore denomination was established in 2009, as part of the reforms that elevated the two hilly areas in the province of Treviso to DOCG status – distinguishing them from the much larger Prosecco DOC zone. Since then, Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG production has grown from barely three million bottles in 2014 to 32.4 million in 2024.

Many factors set Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG apart from the wider world of Italian sparkling wine – not least the fact that it was the first in Italy to recognise the super-dry Extra Brut style, and produces wines in a range of sweetness levels. The soft, round Extra Dry wines display the Glera grape’s signature ripe apple, pear and citrus notes, while the drier Brut and Extra Brut wines have more focus on minerality and structure.
