CELEBRATE 30 YEARS OF CONNECTION WITH CHANEL

Hosted by Chloé Guicheteau, Head of Research & Development, and Georgie Hindle, Decanter's Bordeaux correspondent, this intimate gathering will feature exceptional vintages, including Château Rauzan-Ségla 2015 and 2005 magnum, alongside Château Canon 2015 and 2000 Magnum. They'll be talking about winemaking, the evolution of the estates and what they're doing to stay at the top of their game.

Since joining the Chanel group in 1994,  Château Rauzan-Ségla has undergone a profound transformation, marked by extensive renovations to its cellars and winery, replanting of vineyards, and the introduction of a second wine, Ségla, under the stewardship of John Kolasa. These efforts elevated the estate from a somewhat neglected Second Growth to consistently producing refined, precise wines that have garnered acclaim in vintages like 2005, 2009, and 2010, with Nicolas Audebert taking the helm in 2015 to further emphasise organic practices and innovation.

Similarly, Château Canon, acquired in 1996, saw a dramatic resurgence through major vineyard restructuring to combat disease, reinforcement of its 30km underground cellars, and targeted investments that restored its Premier Grand Cru Classé B status, resulting in voluptuous, mineral-driven wines that have shone brightly since 2014. Under Chanel's patient, luxury-driven ethos, both estates now embody timeless elegance, blending heritage with modern precision to produce some of Bordeaux's most sought-after bottles.

CHLOÉ GUICHETEAU

Head of Research & Development

Chloé Guicheteau is an agricultural engineer and oenologist, graduated from Bordeaux, passionate about the vine, wine, and everything related to nature and sharing. Originally from Nantes – a region she particularly loves for its Muscadet – she settled in Bordeaux in 2012 to build a rich and committed professional career.

During her studies in agricultural engineering and oenology in Bordeaux, Chloé spent several periods abroad: five months in Italy for her final thesis, then three months in California during the harvest season. These experiences gave her insight into different approaches to wine and vine cultivation.
Back in France, she joined Château du Tertre, where she divided her time between the vineyard and the cellar, discovering the complementarity between plant work and winemaking. After this formative experience, Chloé spent nine months as Technical Manager in a Graves de Vayres estate, deepening her expertise in both agronomic and oenological aspects.

In March 2019, she created and took on the role of Head of R&D, dedicated to research and development at Château Rauzan-Ségla. The innovative and forward-looking challenges of the sector led to the creation of a Sustainability Department in 2023 for all the estates of LES VIGNOBLES, to which she is now attached.

A true epicurean, Chloé enjoys sharing simple pleasures around good food and wine.
